Newest Banshee is awesome!

I just compiled the latest Banshee from source, 1.0.0. It's great! Compilation went fine with minor hiccups during the configuration process. Best of all they fixed that dang bug where it would always create the ~/Music directory! Highly recommend. big_smile

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

Maybe it will make me switch from rhythmbox this time? thanks for the input, I will try it.

UPDATE: WOW!, it really is better now, it could have used this rewrite for a long time. I did an Arch Linux package for it but I compiled it without ipod support. But yeah, is highly recommended.

Just wanted to add that play queue is awesome, just a killer feature I have been longing to see for quite a lot of time.

Yes, iPod support is a pain for this new version.

I like the improvements though.

It doesn't recognize my ipod, but I agree that it's much improved and definitely deserves a try.

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

Gave it a whirl, the interface confuses the hell out of me, its not complicated its just totally unintuitive. And its severely bloated, Ill stick with Consonance. On the positive side it still has the best name ever for a music player tongue

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

It seems to be available in community, but the 64-bit package has not been upgraded to 1.0.0.  I tried the PKGBUILD used in the 32-bit version, but there seems to be an unmet dependency for ipod-sharp 0.8.0.  I tried compiling with the option --disable-ipod, but the build failed.  Has anyone gotten it working on 64-bit Arch?

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

Yea I did, I did pretty much what you said too, just grabbed the 32bit PKG, disabled ipod and some other junk and installed, then uninstalled roll, but it compiled fine.

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

How does it stack up against Amarok?

So far I have:
* music import speed
* video

I'm having a bit of trouble getting banshee to work nicely on my box, so I'm wondering if anybody else here who has used both can give some input here.

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

I installed it on my Arch64 box - and while it can see my Ipod; it does not show the playlists on it nor can it sync.  Is this how it's supposed to "work?"

Re: Newest Banshee is awesome!

Banshee still does not have an equalizer! They should first concentrate on the audio features before introducing video support.

Has anyone been able to get iPods to sync and show playlists yet?  Either 32 or 64?

Shuffling actually works in 1.2.0. That was annoying the hell out of me before.

It does provide nice integration with Last.fm too. I'm definetly using it now after 1.0.
