Help transfering files to a SanDisk Sansa Fuze

From what I've read online, I need to put the disk into MSC mode, then when I plug it into the USB it should be automatically mounted.  When I try, it's not even listed under 'fdisk -l'.  When I plug in a USB flash drive, it's automatically found and mounted without problems.  Do I need a special library or something?

Thanks.

e:  Got it, it was because I was plugging it into a USB extension and directly into the computer.

Ok, I guess that wasn't it, because it's not working anymore.  I works fine in Windows and Ubuntu, so do I need add myself to a group or something?

Not sure if this is a groups problem but you could have a look here and add yourself to the relative groups http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Groups

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I added myself to disk and storage but, the only two groups that seem like they might be needed, but to no avail.

Can you post the output from

dmesg | tail

after plugging in the flash drive.

Re: Help transfering files to a SanDisk Sansa Fuze

I'm receiving a Sansa View today and my preliminary searches have brought me to http://www.micahcarrick.com/05-21-2008/ … buntu.html - it seems to be a good manual, but of course I have not been able to test it yet.

Zl.

dmesg | tail:

hub 7-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32)

I'll take a look at that page now zenlord, thanks.

e:  I tried putting it in hold and pressing the left button for five seconds like the page said, but it didn't do anything.  Thanks, though.

Do "rmmod ehci-hcd" and it should go.
