I have a box set up as a MythTV machine, everything was working fine until my psu failed.
I installed a new one, brought it back up, but now lirc doesn't work. I get no input from the remote. I have 2 identical remotes, and I get nothing from either.
I went to the wiki and re-setup lirc per those instructions. When I try to run irw to check, I get a connection refused error. lsmod shows lirc loaded.
I also tried just starting the lircd daemon /etc/rc.d/start_lirc seems to start, stop and restart it fine.
If I try just restarting from /etc/rc.d/lircd, I get a FAIL on the shutdown but it seems to start ok. From there if I irw, it brings me immediately back to the command line.

Found a procedure in the mythtvtalk forums, suggesting the following:
In one terminal window, start up the daemon with '/sbin/lircd -n' This will start up lircd in 'no-deamon' mode, so you can watch the output.
In a second terminal window, start up irw while watching the first window
#> lircd -n
lircd: lircd(all) ready
lircd: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Segmentation fault
as soon as I start irw, I get the segmentation fault.
