dhcpcd times out for wireless, b43

I have a desktop wireless card and no ethernet port on my computer. The card is a WMP54GS, Linksys Wireless-G with speedbooster. I am using the b43 driver.

I was able to successfully install the drivers, and scanning with iwlist shows all the access points in my range. I can set the essid and the ap but when I try to do dhcpcd wlan0 it just times out and I can't connect to the internet.

The card works fine on windows though, so I got the ip address and tried setting it manually with ifconfig, but I still can't access the internet.

I also tried a netcfg2 profile, but had no luck (it failed during dhcp request).

I am not sure what to try from here.

the dump from iwconfig always says Link Quality, Signal Level, and Noise Level is 0, (not 0/100, just 0)

also, the address of the router(def gateway and dhcp server) is 192.168.2.1, and when I try to ping it, it says Destination not reachable (but I can ping it from windows)
