Center Stalonetray

Sorry...just a simple question, but couldn't seem to find it by googling =P

What do you put in .stalonetrayrc to center it at the top of the screen?

Re: Center Stalonetray

stalonetray takes geometry arguments so it depends on the width of your screen
geometry 0x0+600+0
would get it close you have to adjust for your screen size to get it right.

Re: Center Stalonetray

yeah I was trying that...the problem is that when new things are added to the panel it's not quite center anymore...can you make the items "grow" from the center somehow?

Re: Center Stalonetray

My bad - now it seems to me that what you want is not quite achievable with stalonetray alone. The other thing that comes to mind is that your window manager might be able to center the window - although I have yet to see one that could do that without some hacking the source smile

As an aside - why would you want to have a tray centered on the screen?

EDIT: maybe a possible "solution" is to set stalonetray size at the beginning so that it's big enough for everything and then don't let it grow.

Re: Center Stalonetray

hm...ok. Is there any other program similar to stalonetray that might have this feature? =P

why do I want it centered? ...why not? I have nothing at the top of my screen at it looks better in the center than it does off to one side =P

Re: Center Stalonetray

I only use 3 apps that use the tray so i just set the size to hold those 3 and it doesnt have to grow like bender said.
there are a couple other standalone trays, pektray is the only i can think of right now. I havent used it in a couple years so dont remember if it can do what you want.

you're way too picky and have some wasted space on your desktop ;P

seriously, though, i can't help - i don't know if others have this feature. you can try trayer (but again, i don't know if it can do that).

Re: Center Stalonetray

yes I'm picky : )

I'll see if pektray works out. If it doesn't...I guess I'm screwed =P

Re: Center Stalonetray

yeah I'm sticking with stalonetray. just like you mentioned, I also usually only have three things in my panel, so at least *most* of the time it will look pretty tongue

Re: Center Stalonetray

I would've used stalonetray, except that it would never go all the way to the edge when margins were on in OB. Now, I don't mean it sat at the edge of the margin. I mean, I'd have a 25 pixel margin, and stalonetray would sit 5 pixels from the edge. I tried all sorts of different things, until I just gave up and went with trayer.
