You're using the GSPCA module no doubt -- these webcams are *shit* under Linux -- just awful. There's nothing you can do about the darkness in skype. You might get better luck under kopete since that will allow you to change the contrast. But that won't help you here, alas.

Hi!
I have the same problem with module gspca_main and gspca_spca561.
Seems that the problem is in these new kernel module that are different from the previous kernels (now i have 2.6.28-ARCH).
In the previous ones there was the possibility to set gamma blue red and green parameters directly from the module.
Now seems that there is no parameters available

An interesting forum can be this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5988774
A possible solution could be come back to a previous kernel , because recompiling the same seems it is unuseful.
Anyone can suggest something else???

Hi!
Good news!! ![]()
It's possible to modify saturation and white balance using xawtv.
I have to lauch xawtv , modify the values , close xawtv and then open skype.
I'm working on a little code written in c available here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/287336.
V4lucp is still not working for me but i'm trying to solve the problem.

I have solved the problem with v4l2ucp.
Works great , but the only control has new driver are white balance and exposure.
Anyway are enough for to have a useful webcam.
I hope these infos can be useful for someone.

What's the right syntax to adjust those parameters? I have a m5602 based webcam with a similar problem.

Had the same problem with my old logitech webcam.
v4l2ucp was the solution for me too. Now it works good with Skype.
