Where to read on CFLAGS and related things?

Hi, everybody,

I've got a pretty big library of books on Linux, including those about building, but the flags are barely mentioned. Is there something like "Building Linux Applications and Drivers from Source Handbook" around ?

I think the gentoo wiki is the best source around for that, if there is a book on it i doubt it has real life info like there, they've probably tested more build options than anyone.
