Long Post Warning!
Hello all!
I've been looking around the internet trying to figure this one out but to no avail.
My main problem can be summerised as thus:
glxgears
1024 frames in 5.0 seconds = 204.757 FPS
1015 frames in 5.0 seconds = 202.318 FPS
897 frames in 5.0 seconds = 179.324 FPS
974 frames in 5.0 seconds = 194.558 FPS
As you see a DREADFUL score..
Here are the specifics, The laptop is an IBM X31 512MB Ram 1.60GHz Pentium M ATI Radeon M 64MB
uname -a
Linux 2.6.25-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri May 16 14:52:43 CEST 2008 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1600MHz

That's an older mobile Radeon, I believe, so I'm not sure how much performance you're going to get out of it. You can take a look at some of the settings here and see if they help you. If the main problem is a laggy desktop, turn off compositing completely and go from there. Hope this helps.
