Hi all!
1. I'm a noob. I played around with some Ubuntu or Solaris from time to time, but not that much. Please keep that in mind if you try to explain things.
2. I managed to get through the "normal" install process, even got a KDE installed (whoever wrote that newbie guide: you are a hero)
3. Specs: I installed the 2008-04 RC 64 bit edition (the 2007-08 installer wouldn't recognize my dvd drive even with legacy enabled) on an Intel Dualcore processor with an NVidia 8800 GT videocard.
uname -r returns 2.6.24-ARCH.
I tried installing the proprietary drivers according to the wiki (yes, using pacman, no, at no point I tried to install the downloadable drivers from the Nvidia site, and yes, I only try that when no X server is running), get asked to remove libgl(answered with Yes), and then I get the following output:
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: atl2: requires kernel26<2.6.25
:: ipw3945: requires kernel26<=2.6.25-0
:: madwifi: requires kernel26<=2.6.25-0
:: ndiswrapper: requires kernel26<=2.6.25-0
:: rt2500: requires kernel26<=2.6.25-0
:: tiacx: requires kernel26<2.6.25
:: wlan-ng26: requires kernel26<=2.6.25-0
Now here's the point where I kind of lost track what's going on. Can anyone please help me?

Did you do pacman -Syu before installing anything else?

I did, but it did not install some packages back then...maybe that means I did not "before anything else", which is strange, because I did follow the wiki...
A forced install (yes, I know I shouldn't do that) of these fixed the problem.
Thanks!
