Run pcmanx will cause X hangs?

Does anyone use pcmanx?

I found that when I run it, the X hangs, but other virtual console can login, and my amarok still plays music.

Any suggestions about how to debug this?

Re: Run pcmanx will cause X hangs?

As far as I can tell the project has not been maintained for 3 years now; can't you find some newer alternative? As for debugging it, who knows. Does hitting "CTRL+AL+BACKSPACE" work (it should kill your X session); if it does, do you see any relevant error messages on the console? That'd be the easiest approach I can think of. It's probably more of a hassle to debug it rather than find a replacement.

I found that when I change my DE from KDEmod to Gnome, pcmanx can run without problem. This is curious.

I guess there may be something wrong with the gtk-qt-engine, so I remove the "kdemod-gtk-qt-engine". Then, it works fine.
