And now with the newer kernel I can't compile the NVIDIA 169 package from ABS.
Any help please?

II also have problems with Nvidia 173, but I don't delete my cache, so I can install on new kernel. Here it is:

I downloaded 173.14.09 from nvidia.com and compiled it. Now it works.

using nvidia's procedure or makepkg/pacman?
I'm having the same issue with the 173.14.05 package.
edit: with a gforce 6100

I uninstalled the packages and ran the NVIDIA's installer

I've installed the nvidia 173.14.05-4 from the repos today and all seems well. This is a fresh install on a newly created RAID setup.

No problems here either, I updated (via normal -Syu) to nvidia 173.14.05-4 and all is working well.
edit: it's an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that I'm using an 8800GT. I haven't updated my laptop yet to see if the update breaks X on the 6150.

The same problem, even with the latest nvidia-beta.
Disable "glx" in Modules section helps, but it disables GLX!
Video card: 6800gt
And everything works fine with manually installed driver. Archlinux package is broken!
I noticed one thing here:
http://repos.archlinux.org/viewvc.cgi/n … 56&r2=2186
for some reason
install X11R6/lib/modules/libnvidia-wfb.so.$pkgver $startdir/pkg/usr/lib/xorg/modules || return 1
was commented out.
But it's exists after official package install, maybe it's the problem?

Another difference in official nvidia package and archlinux package is a libnvidia-tls.so.173.14.09 file.
In official driver package there are two version of that file. And I have other version installed than archlinux package.

Same problem here, with a 6800 agp. It seems that the problem is related to the 6xxx series, since it works well with a 5200 (agp) and a 7600 (pcie)...
