when the site is back up, should we install a package or get the linux stuff from the site?

get "linux stuff from the site" if you want your contribution to count.
Offline
looks to be down ... may they get the record of broken servers xD

If anyone wants it.
Setting a record in most 421s in 24 hours is kind of lame anyway.

Is kind of strange. Usually sites do everything they can to take weigh off the servers.

it has!
I even got to their homepage, they got already 484,744 downloads, in 1 hour, 20 minutes. pretty cool. ![]()
wtf, I did refresh and now it's 515,530???
I think I cannot believe that.
What is else: I cannot find any 3.0 packages, I only find 2.0.14 packages?!
There is this image
Firefox 3 and underneath it:
" Free Download 2.0.0.14 for Linux i686 English (US) (9.2MB)" lol? And all the other versions point to 2.0.14, Windows and mac?

Am I missing something?

They'll fix that soon.
Wonder how many downloaded the old one by mistake.
I'm downloading the source now, anyways. I have 64 bit, and I don't think they have 64 bit binaries.

actually i think the half a million are windows users since it checks the operating system (no idea how) and gives you a binary for it so the have most likely forgot or for some other stupid reason forgot to fix the link for the linux one

How long before it gets into the regular repo?

I checked in my XP vm a few minutes ago and it was wrong too.
Fixed now, though.
Anyway, I have a physics exam tomorrow, so I have to force myself to turn off the computer.

Turn off that computer NOW! Get a life man, you cannot sit here all day.
no offense. ![]()
Good luck ![]()
I've downloaded it now, but I will wait 'till it is in the repos...

I will download the windows binary for my gaming setup, but wait for the stable pacman repos for my arch install.
Although setting a record that is this abstract and hard to verify, seems stupid, I still think it is a fun and good idea. The open source world has to generate some PR if we want more users to use the software. And firefox would never have become this popular if it was crappy software.

Just like WIndows, Ubuntu, Fedora, SUSE, etc. would never have become this popular if they were crappy software.

Is this ironical? ;-)

They've reached their goal of 1.6 million downloads already, and it's only been out a few hours. I say they can at least double their goal.
P.S. I was able to turn of the computer long enough to get a good bit of studying done.

Why include Fedora in that list ?
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

BTW, I just saw an ad for IE7 on "adds by google" on this site.
Ironically, I found it when searching the repos for firefox.
