fluxbox halp

i chose to use this WM because i am familiar with it. i am a former slackware user. i just installed arch about ten mins ago and i am trying to get fluxbox running. i for some reason had no .xinitrc file in my home dir so i made one only with the line exec startfluxbox but when i startx all it does is... start x lol i am wondering what i need to do to get fluxbox to work big_smile

Re: fluxbox halp

There is an example .xinitrc in /etc/skel

What you probably need in .xinitrc is.

exec startfluxbox

However I am not positive on that, check the beginners guide on the wiki, or the fluxbox wiki entry, both give instructions on setting up fluxbox.

Re: fluxbox halp

you aren't running startx as root right? make sure you are running X as a user. also, have you tried just putting fluxbox instead of startfluxbox into .xinitrc?
