At least on Windows XP it's awesome! Very nice default theme too.

The XP default theme is available as a theme btw. It's called XP on Vista (because apparently only the 2 windows versions can run ff now?)
But i prefer the linux one - GTK looks!

Yeah, of course the Linux theme is way better, it changes depending your themes and icons. I used Firefox3 on anothers person computer, which unfortunately had Windows XP and yeah the theme looks cool, but is static, does not change because of you changing the theme in XP, at least that's the impression I got for the minutes I got to use it.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Is there a reason why they released wine 1.0? Or they simply ran out of numbers?

Well, they had a code freeze some time ago and focused on fixing bugs... Their goal for 1.0 was to get four specific apps working with it, dunno which exactly but one of them was photoshop cs2 afaik.

15 years of developing wine.....how many linux apps could have been written with that effort ? Apps were lacking for linux in the beginning, this was true, but instead of trying to run windows apps on linux they should have written linux replacements...

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

Hmm. Go and write a linux replacement for every game they got to work under wine (not to mention other programs). I am sure it would've taken more than 15 years to this particular group of developers.

I just wish I could do some serious gaming with Arch and Wine. Unfortunately, and not for lack of trying, I can't even get partial functionality with Battlefield 2142, which is my game of choice right now.

And what if you're forced to run a certain windows application(for example because of proprietary file formats or because of other compatability reasons)? I know that the problems here lies in the file formats/proprietary software itself, but what should one do in this case? A virtual machine just for these applications might be often an overkill not to mention the trouble sorrounding it and the convenience that's lost compared to running it with wine.
So I would say, that wine is a great project and certainly should exist, the development time has certainly not been wasted.

You guys are right. I didn't mean to bash wine in that way. It can be handy sometimes, although I personally don't use it...

Will it work with 64 bit yet?
Fustrated Windows users have two options.
1. Resort to the throwing of computers out of windows.
2. Resort to the throwing of windows out of computers.
