Having trouble getting a buffalo airstation g54 (USB) working.
The computer I'm using has usb 1.1 (not sure if that would stop it from working)
lsusb yields:
04111:0066 Melco Inc. I put 04111:0066 into google and it gave me this:
http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/RT2X00.html which seemed to indicate that the chipset of the device is RT2500
next step:
modprobe rt2500
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwlist wlan0 scan yields:
ESSID:"gaz"
...
Quality 47/100 Signal Level=-76dBm
Encryption key:off
...
and then
iwconfig wlan0 essid gaz
dhcpcd wlan0
yields:
err, wlan0:timed out
warn, wlan0: using IPV4ALL address 169.254.5.128
Currently I have another box running linux mint and an rt61 based pci wireless card, which can connect to the router, so I know things are ok at the router end.
Any ideas anyone?

found out using puppy linux that my usb dongle has the rt2570 chip, so I will have a go at at building the module for that
