Yet another ALSA no sound topic [solved]

But I have tried all the solutions of the other "alsa no sound" posts, to no avail. The sound has worked in the past (this morning, in fact). I did do a pacman -Syu this morning, but I'm not sure what could have caused the problem. Hotplug is not loaded. Here is relevant data.

Card: nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

When I run alsamixer, I get "No mixer elems found", but "alsamixer -c 1" works.

Alsa: alsa-lib-1.0.16-1

Running x64.

Based on my searching, my guess is that something is hijacking /dev/dsp, but I don't know what. Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Yet another ALSA no sound topic [solved]

I know this is old but I solved it. I had a usb sound interface connected it it loaded the two sound interfaces in a different order and screwed everything up. The trick is to boot with one interface and plug in the usb later.

Then tell ALSA which order to use. See ALSA wiki.
