I noticed that firefox is set to automatically check for updates (in Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Update). I assume this is stored in my profile. Wouldn't these updates potentially interfere with pacman? (ie. removing the package later)

Hmm, we should find a way to disable this updater. I don't even think the updater works, as it's an unofficial build without branding, there's no update channel for that at mozilla.org/com.

don't disable that. if you do that then the extensions will never be updated automaticaly

I left updating for "Installed Add-ons" and "Search Engines". It's updates for "Mindfield" I'm wondering about.

I did notice that after disabling updates for Minefield that the option to re-enable becomes greyed-out. I'll file a bug report: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10733.

I have never seen the updater do anything in years under Linux. I believe that it was way back in the 1.5 branch the last time I saw it work.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)
