Yippee, we can use an usb stick to install Arch!
neotuli and all developers, thanks for your work!

Yeah, finally a new install CD.
Unfortunately I'm not able to login neither with login name "root" nor with "arch". "Login incorrect" is displayed 4 times and then I'm back at the login. I had no possibility to enter a password.

If it is an official release, will it be announced in Distrowatch ?

one complaint would be that the installer won't let you move on unless you pick something from base-devel and also you can't get out of some of the utilities without rebooting (or resetting in virtualbox). Most notably the space invaders game and the cputest thing.

would like to see zsync implemented to update older ISOs
Even a chicken can install Debian, when you put enough grain on the enter key.

- 'base' category is always installed
want
I supose that exists the posibility of selecting the pkg's i want in base, not that ALL BASE PKG'S are installed.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

How do I submit something to the suggestion box?
Give me a shell account to the build server and I will whip up some zsync files right quick. Certainly I do not need to download every single ISO, create the zsync and then upload them....where....

Actually, I researched the zsync option just now and did some test runs. At this time it appears that the bandwidth savings is quite minimal (on the magnitude of less than 1%) for most of the images. The one notable exception was the core ISOs, for which the savings was around 20%. I don't think 2 out of 8 where it actually makes a difference justifies it.
That said, if you want the zsync files I still have them around, feel free to host them somewhere if you think it makes a difference.

If you need a patch to make the installer select all base packages by default but enabling the user to deselect packages from the install list in dialog, tell me... ;P
great work otherwise!
If I find something I'll let you know.

It seems that all the other 3 selectable options other than BASE are there.... right?
I hit space bar.... which asterisks the BASE selection then the next page is all the packages.... many of which as NOT selected..
I'm guessing these are the packages from the other 3 optional sections from the last ISO release.... libs, dev etc...
I've just selected all of them manually and will be installing ALL.
??
NOTE: I saw a BGPG error ....anyone who what that means...

There's an updated ISO coming up?

At this time it appears that the bandwidth savings is quite minimal
it does seem less than I expected...
The one notable exception was the core ISOs, for which the savings was around 20%
from 2008.4-rc to 2008.6 core savings was 28%, once again, not as much as I expected
Savings would probably be significant if a user had the ftp ISO and decided they wanted the core ISO.....and vice versa.
Thanks for considering it!

TOO satisfied!!!
Although just as I was checking back I realized... oops.... my getting confused and then writing that could be understandably taken WAY the wrong way.. I got confused with the "seeding now... "

Didn't try the installation (I'm in no need at the moment) but booted from USB stick just out of curiosity to see if it works and.. couldn't be happier! It's the first "image to stick" which has worked without any "trying to figure out why it just doesn't work though I followed the instructions word by word". Thanks for this one, I only wish it had been around the first time I installed arch on my tp-x23 without cd-drive
