Stythys uploaded the new iso's to http://linuxtorrents.org/torrents.php?p … =ArchLinux for me.  (Copied from the ArchLinux download page)  Stats are on that page as well.

Well, so good new ISOs are out for when I go about my usual Arch Linux system trashing, but well, it could be months before it happens, everytime my Arch Linux installs last longer withouth me going so extremely experimental as to having to reinstall. big_smile

Re: 2008.06 Release

Hmm. One issue I am having on 2008.06, that is not present on 2008.04 live cd:
Madwifi seems broken. Both ath5k and ath_pci are being loaded, knocking out ath0. "noload=ath5k" does not work in GRUB on live CD- ath5k still gets loaded.
Must rmmod ath5k and ath_pci, and re- modprobe ath_pci. Then ath0 is created.
Curiously, the laptop is up-to-date, and runs fine with both the ath5k and ath_pci on the existing hd installed system. It's just the livecd with the madwifi issue. I'll  submit buggy.

These problems have been mentioned in the networking-section (loading two modules, ath0 -> wlan0-change and GRUB not accepting the noload-option), so I'm not quite sure it is installer-related. These problems arose with the kernelchange 2.6.24 -> 2.6.25, so it might be upstream.

Zl.

Re: 2008.06 Release

I love the new installer. I'm afraid I will just sit around and play space invaders and never get going with the install, when I have to reinstall in the future though sad.

neotuli- can we start rolling out a daily name change to confuse people more? Since the name matters so much and everything. </sarcasm>

Guys- this isn't Ubuntu. We don't call our install CDs Goofy Goose or Zanky Zebra or whatever the hell they do, and actually require you to upgrade to get the newest stuff. You can hardly even call these releases, as all they are is snapshots of our stuff at a particular moment. So getting worried about a name change is really pointless.

I think Overlord sounds too sinister. I vote we change the name to Taco Linux, and rename the ISO to Burrito Bandit!

Re: 2008.06 Release

May someone help me to extract the img file on man /dev/sda1 usb drive ?

this command  line doesn't work :

$dd if=./archlinux-2008.06-core-i686.img of=/dev/sda1

I only obtain few unexpected files on my usb key.

Your drive is /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1. It is a full disk image, not a single partition, so you want to use the drive for the output file.

If it is on the official ISOs, could we plzzzzzzzzzzz move it to extra or even core? smile
It is a nice feature and the official ISOs should only contain the 'really official' Arch stuff, should it not?

Re: 2008.06 Release

I think the installer asks if you want to to keep the packages in your cache twice, once when enter the select packages step, and once when you enter the install packages step. Also, the 368.85 of total install size seems higher than I remember.

I would seriously prefer Archbuntu over that.
