new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

what happened to libgtkmozembed.so? previously it was in the xulrunner package.
now with xulrunner-1.9 many apps which use gtkmozembed are broken; eg gmusicbrowser, zattoo. perhaps some more.
any ideas?

Re: new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

The new xulrunner is not compatible with old one. Go bother the ones who develop the applications.

Re: new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

I just emailed them too. Let's hope they respond quickly.

This thread might also be of interest: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=46790.

I Should have read it before blindly upgrading xulrunner. Downgrading isn't exactly straightforward.

Re: new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

I have solved the issue recovering the old xulrunner package (xulrunner-1.8.1.14-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz) from /var/cache/pacman/pkg/.

Then I have edited the package name (in .PKGINFO file from the tar) this way:

...
pkgname = xulrunner-1.8
pkgver = 1.8.1.14-3
...

and also renamed the file usr/bin/xulrunner in the package to usr/bin/xulrunner-1.8 in order to avoid conflicts with xulrunner 1.9.

I know it's really annoying, but xulrunner-1.9 it's a requirement for firefox3, so it couldn't be removed or reverted as usual.

Re: new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

Thanks for the workaround tito207, didn't realize just how much I was using Zattoo until this week.

EDIT: I modified the cached xulrunner 1.8 package as you suggested but I still get the same error.

zattoo_player: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkembedmoz.so.0d: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Re: new xulrunner and gtkmozembed

hi,
i submitted a PKGBUILD for xulrunner-1.8 to AUR:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18076
there are no patches applied. if one needs special patches, post them here or send them by mail.
zattoo needs to be reinstalled to work properly.
note that xulrunner-1.8 does not conflict with the latest version (1.9).
the binary is now xulrunner-1.8.

I can't agree more with you!

It's strange that you keep having the same problem, but maybe it's due to broken soft links.
Check the folder /usr/lib/zattoo and redo the soft links (#>ln -sf /path/to/the/xulrunner/lib /usr/lib/zattoo/<lib_link>) that are broken.
