I've been sitting on this review forever...kept on waiting until it would come out ![]()
In any case, there are too many Linux Mint 5 and OpenSuse 11 reviews. Let's read about a real distro for a change! A distro for men! For manly men! For men in tights!

Enjoy!

I liked your review. It actually described Arch for what it is. Well done!

Well, nice...

Still an ArchLinux lover though.

I like the style the review is written as it really points out Archs versatility, which is, in addition to the great and painless rolling release system, the strongest plus for Arch. It looks and works the way you want it to.

Well done!
You know, when I first came here, the Arch wiki was considered by Judd and others to be sorely lacking. Now, I hear nothing but positive things about it. I am happy the wiki is now coming on-par with the elegant code and layout of Arch itself.

Very good review, I've also subscribed to your blog ![]()

That's one of the first reviews I've read where the reviewer has actually taken into account what Arch is trying to achieve (and its philosophies). Too many reviews I've read are simply "It's not easy for noobs, so it's bad". Slapping the goal/philosophy from one distro onto another which is striving for something completely different is the fastest way to an inaccurate review. That's not the case here. Well done!

This review hit the nail on the head. I've just recently finally gotten arch installed on my laptop and working like I want. Still a thing or two I've had "work around", but this is the distro for me. Just Like you said "everything you want and nothing you don't". It work, but its worth it. Again great review that really sums it up nicely.

Yep, very nice... I remember looking at that black screen at the end of the install, thinking "how do I know if it worked"?! I agree about the reading up beforehand -- it definitely helped me.

Awsome review. I'm gonna spread the link to those on other forums who are unsure if arch is for them or not.

Very nice work! I read your review and I love how you were describe it at a variety of different angles and point of views, it sure reflected my past experience with Arch. ![]()

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback!
The review is linked on the Arch page on Distrowatch, but not (yet) on the main page. I'll wait and see...
In any case, reading all your comments sure made my day, and it's only eight in the morning
Thanks ![]()

Nice review. But you didn't mention us being men in tights anywhere in the review, that's also a big part of arch linux!

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

There are female Arch linux users, so the "men" part has to be discarded. Plus, I don't wear tights, so we have the required number of one counter-example. This leaves us at "in". ![]()
Seriously, the review is very well written, my compliments. Your writing style is entertaining yet informative.

Celettu;
Writing style enhances the arch experience from the get go......
Suggest only the inclusion of items that merit some mention in the day and age of green power....
These items are Larch and FaunOS, both archlinux based, and boot from USB flash. Faunos is the simplest system to install bar none. It provides archlinux install of 600 packages, downsizing possible with GUI PacTrac and a KDE DE.
For those who desire to roll their own, Larch enables custom builds.
These offshoots from archlinux enhance the distro and provide an overview of much of the package inventory at the outset. Archlinux then becomes even more flexible and in the case of Faunos, portable with a USB stick. Demos to friends on their machines enhance the archlinux image in the windows- dominated cyber world.
Certainly, some mention of these archlinux based developments is deserved.

+1
The review reads like an extended typical post from these forums; informative while maintaining a sense of humor. My only criticism is that nowhere did it mention how many cars overlord can lift.
Plus, I don't wear tights, so we have the required number of one counter-example.
Don't worry, I'll wear two to make up for ya.
Edit:
lilsirecho, you with the FaunOS plugs. It's become a meme I tell ya! ![]()

My roomates said they were going to get me rims for Christmas, or a CB radio so I can talk to other car beds; that'll be hot. Might get a stereo, too. My sister said I should get an alarm.

Blah, I started writing a general piece about Arch, describing its building blocks and history, but somehow can't bring myself to finish it. The thing is, parts of your "review" reminded me quite of mine ;-)
Well done.

I contacted Ladislav about it, and after that it appeared. Well, but maybe someone contacted him first.
anyways, I'm glad it is getting the attention it deserves. And if it doesn't make it to the front page, it will surely be included on the newsletter, I am going to do that just now. ![]()

It's out of control ![]()
I've only started this blog a month ago, and yesterday evening I had a nice total of 6440 visitors. I was very pleased about that. Today alone I had over two thousand visitors.
But more important (much more important), are all the extremely nice comments I get from the Arch community itself. Means a lot to me
Kensai, thanks for contacting Ladislav, and wuischke, I totally forgot about the existence of women. I swear it doesn't happen a lot ![]()
Thanks, all of you!
