I don't want to appear demanding here, but I wonder when the 'qt' package will be updated to version 4.4.
Qt 4.4 was released on May 6.
I'm espacially looking for the phonon functionality introduced in that version.
Won't the update happen before the release of KDE 4.1 or what are the reasons for the late udpate?

QT-4.4 introduces some incompatibilities. For example lyx behaves strange and PSI only works when using a svn snapshot etc.. Anyway: phonon will be disabled in QT itself. There will be a separate package with the 4.1 release of KDE.
Is there any app which allready needs QT-4.4 or phonon?

Maybe he wants to develop one. But phonon was not intended to be just a part of KDE 4.1, its part of Qt entirely so I think that it should be included by default.

It has to be weighed. Scale of headache vs scale of benefit.
No known app in the repos excluding unsupported _need_ 4.4, some of them which have been updated upstream only suggest it as being better to have - that is all.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Exactly, I'd like to play around with it and eventually start an app with PyQt, which is still another thing to update by the way.
But I'm as well not in real _need_ of it, so don't pay too much attention to me. ![]()
Anyway, I also think phonon should be included in Qt as it just the lowest common denominator (a KDE-app is a Qt-app, and thus could always use phonon if it were included in Qt, whereas not every Qt-app is a KDE-App, so you couldn't use phonon in plain Qt-apps without including KDE-libs)

You might just use testing in this case. The phonon snapshot in QT is allready outdated and because it would conflict with any other phonon it will be disabled and shipped in a separate package.
