Issue with new graphicscard

Hello

I just invested in an Ati Radeon x3870 today, the only problem I have is that alsa is using the sound part of my graphics card since it supports HDMI, and not my primary soundcard, how do I fix this?

Did you try running alsaconf and selecting device?

Hmm wasn't aware of that tool, but it doesn't make alsa use that card by default(or at all).

Sollution, I discovered that the intergrated soundcard in the graphics card is intel-hda, so I just blacklisted it's module.
