Hi all ![]()
I'm a (future) French user, I don't speak english well, so excuse me please ![]()
So, I will install archlinux soon, and I want to know which will be installed on my desktop.
During the installation, we have to choose the packages who will be installed with the kernel. I want install ONLY the package I will use, not the osers ![]()
Step: This screen
Example: I will not use JFS' Hard Disk, so I will not install the package "jfstools"
So, I want to know what is every package who is proposed ![]()
I hope you will understand me ![]()
Modos & Admins: You can edit my post, if you can make my sentences better than me ^_^
Thanks all !

I'm not sure that I understand you correctly, but you may want to have a look at this bug report. I think this may be what you are referring to.
edit: maybe not ![]()

If you download the 2008.03-3 ISO(ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/other/rc-iso/2008.03/i686/Archlinux-i686-2008.03-0.3.core.iso), you will be able to select only the packages you want. The 2008.06(http://www.archlinux.org/download/) release installs all of the Base category, which will include the jfs package. There is a bug report, and the 2008.06 release may go back to the 'old way'.
edit:
@rson451, I think that is the problem he is talking about, just that he might not realize the older releases are what he wants.
It is easy to 'pacman -R pkgname', but that isn't really KISS or the Arch Way.

Ok, so I will explain with anothers words ^^
When I've made the netinstall of Archlinux, I saw this screen Look here
After this step, we can unselect the packages which we will don't use.
Me, I will not use JFS, so I will not install the package "jfstools", it's unnecessary.
Now I want to know what is every package on the list because I want install only the package I will use.
You understand now ? Sorry, but I don't speak english well :s
EDIT:Sjoden you have understand me
But I remember that we can unselect some package unnecessary during the installation !

I would suggest downloading the core install that I linked to just above. I think it is what you want. It shows you the 4 pkg categories, and lets you select/deselect all by default, but also select/deselect anything you do/don't want.
Yes, now you have understand my situation.
Now, can you say me where I can find the descriptions or the packages selected please ?
It's exactly that I search !
EDIT: Why did you have deleted your last post ?

It is what you make it. Even if you don't know what to make it.

Sorry, your post showed up while I was typing mine, and I didn't want to add confusion, so I deleted it. I guess I had it right though. ![]()
