I've been working on a document for an RPG I'm designing, and I want to embed a diagram into the document. Problem is, OpenOffice.org Writer won't let me embed svg files into my documents. Dia, which I've been using to create the diagram, doesn't export to any of the vector graphics formats that Writer is able to embed. Even worse, OpenOffice.org Draw can't import any of the vector graphics formats that Dia can export.
What do I do? I don't want to use raster graphics, because they don't look very nice when they're scaled.

You could give convert a try. I'm not sure how well it will handle svg though.

Well, I opened the SVG file in scribus, and it didn't import correctly. I also tried opening it in Konqueror, to see if I could export it to postscript, and my entire system slowed to a snail's pace. Konqueror slowly rendered the image as a series of gigantic letters, laid on top of one another. It seems that Dia can only output broken SVG files, so I'll need to find a different method.

Could you, perhaps, leave the SVG areas alone and export the document to PDF? After that, you can load it up with Inkscape, along with the DIA-exported images which will then be embedded onto the PDF. It'd be major fail if that SVG can't be loaded by Inkscape, in which case I'd suggest a nice fat dia bug report.

Inkscape can open dia SVG properly, but Inkscape's export to OODraw isn't working correctly. Maybe OO is broken?

Actually, the image above is a dia SVG file, opened in Inkscape.
