How to set transparency for xfce4-panel without the xfce DE?

I know that when I had a full XFCE, all I had to do was enable compositing in one of the settings GUI's and then I could right-click on the panel and tell it how transparent to be.

Is there some boolean value in a config file somewhere that I can toggle to enable that? I'm using xfce-panel with Openbox.

Does anybody have any suggestions to allow my xfce-panel to be transparent?

xcompmgr + transset. XFCE panel transparency is done with compositing and only compositing.
