Partitioning / SWAP / GRUB

Hello,

I've a few problems and I would be happy, if you can help me. The situation is the following:
1. There is only one HDD in the computer
2. Installed Systems: Win XP / Debian
3. That's the modified fdisk -l output:

/dev/hda1 * 1 3264 26218048+ c W95 FAT32 (LBA) Win XP
/dev/hda2 3265 6528 26218080 5 Extended Debian
/dev/hda3 6529 16319 78646207+ b W95 FAT32 Files
/dev/hda4 16320 19457 25205985 83 Linux partition for ArchLinux
/dev/hda5 * 3265 4115 6835626 83 Linux Debian
/dev/hda6 4116 4223 867478+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris Debian
/dev/hda7 4224 6528 18514881 83 Linux Debian

So you can see, I can't create a new extended partition, because i have one. It's only possible to create one new partition (ext 3) on hda4. And that's the problem, the Arch-Installer needs an extra swap partition, but I can't create one. My idea: Use ArchLinux without a swap partition, use a swapfile. How can I handle that fact with the installer?
The other problem is: Can I skip the GRUB install in the Arch-Installer? I've installed GRUB at hda5 and just wanted to update the menu.lst.
I hope you can understand my problems and you could help me.

Thanks a lot

Re: Partitioning / SWAP / GRUB

Is that a swap partition at hda6? You can share swap partitions with other OS's.

And yes you can skip the GRUB install.

Welcome to arch!

Re: Partitioning / SWAP / GRUB

I am an idiot! What a simple and good idea just to share the swap file. For security reasons i've backuped my MBR, but I hope I don't need it. Thanks for your both useful answers.
