problem with pan [SOLVED]

suddenly pan stopped being able to connect to my ISPs newsgroups. I created accounts in thunderbird and sylpheed, and both of those work. I created a new ~/.pan2 and set everything up again, but it still can't connect. it just says "offline" in the lower left corner. nothing in the file/event log. anyone else having problems with this app? it's usually pretty solid, not sure what's going on. ?

SOLVED: i created the sylpheed/t-bird accounts all right, but I should have actually downloaded a message.

Time Warner Cable will be discontinuing its newsgroup service
