First of all, this isn't a complaint-- I just noticed something strange and got curious.
The rolling release system of Arch is awesome, and it's nice to be up to date all the time. I noticed, though, that even after the release of 2008.06, the message displayed on my login says 'Arch Linux (Core Dump)'. I had always assumed that the 'Core Dump' referred to the fact that I had used the rc released just before Overlord to install my system. But with the latest update (which included filesystem 2008.06-2) it still says that, and I would have expected it to change to 'Arch Linux (Overlord)'.
Did I miss something here? Obviously this is trivial, and I could change the /etc/issue file if it really bothered me, but I'm curious to know just what the 'Core Dump' means if I'm wrong.

You didn't miss anything, the devs did. The message should have been updated with the release but in the excitement it got overlooked. :-)

Fair enough. I'm betting most people wouldn't have even noticed it, using graphical logins and all. Guess I'd better learn how to submit a bug report. Thanks!

I was wondering about the same thing...

Consider using this for your /etc/issue instead: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=50845.

@lee_connell
You can check for yourself. The link to the Arch bug tracker is on the link bar at the top of this page.
