I recently purchased the Saitek Cyborg 5.1 headset. It has analog stereo and mic connections, which work great, and a USB connection for surround sound support. Unfortunately, the later is not working under Arch (works fine in Windows). Here is all the information I could find on them regarding to Linux compatibility:
-They use CM106 chipset
-Phoronix claims a headset with the same chipset works under Suse out of the box: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a … =592&num=3
-This site suggests drivers compatible with the chipset (usbhid and snd-usb-audio), but I really do not know what to do with this information: http://hardware4linux.info/usb/0d8c:0006/
-This chipset is used in the Dell Inspiron 1520 (according to previous site). Varrious Ubuntu forum posts recommend getting the sound working under Ubuntu by downloading the following package:http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/devel/linux-backports-modules-generic . I can't actually figure out what is in that package that has anything to do with audio.
Thanks in advance,
