can't install themes or extensions in firefox

i have tried over and over to install "things they left out" in firefox. it is a an extension that is available. it would start to install then tell me i prob don't have permissions to write to my profile or chrome dir. i get this same error regardless of whether i am root or not.  any help would be great

i can reproduce this bug also with mozilla

error -202 no permissions to write to chrome dir

seens to be arch-specific

chmod 777 /opt/mozilla-firefox/lib/mozilla-1.6/chrome/

and

chmod 777 /opt/mozilla-firefox/lib/mozilla-1.6/components/

that fixed my problem.
