CUPS magically stoped working [partially solved]

Every task fails with

/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertospl2 failed

Yesterday it worked, but today - no. I issued an update eariier today but there aren't any suspicious logs:

Oh.. There's a newer version of splix installed... I just saw it... So... what does it do (besides messing up my printing)
Ye.. just downgraded it works... So what's the problem with the newer version?

EDIT: My printer is Samsung ML-1610

Goto cups -> modify printer -> all same (select ML-1610 1.1.0)

works good for me without downgrades (same printer)
