The only reason I have windows on my laptop is because I haven't yet found Map software for Linux. Know of any good ones?

I don't have my cable modem with me while I'm in the car. I guess it's my fault I wasn't specific enough.

Marble for kde4 uses openstreetmap. I dont know if it requires an internet connection though, and I dont know how detailed the mapping is.

If you are talking about GIS, try GRASS, QGIS, and uDig.  Try googling for others.

Re: Good map software for Linux?

There are gosmore, navit and gpsdrive, which can use xmldata from openstreetmap. So there's no internet connection necessary.

I didn't try gpsdrive. Using navit I couldn't search for streets. The handling of gosmore is quite different, since you can't drag the map.

There is also a possibility to download openstreetmap tiles for offline usage with OpenLayers. Basically it should be usable with other map services, too. But you only have a map without any searching capabilites.
