Hi, I have a laptop with an intel 965GM and I just made the framebuffer work at 1280x800 with uvesafb.
The metod I used is the same descrived here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uve … resolution
but the current 915resolution doesn't support the 965GM. Searching for a while I found a patch http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-e … 02974.html so I downloaded and patched the 915resolution. I think it will be a good idea to add the patch to the 915resolution packages.
The v86d 0.1.3-3 is buggy and didn't work with my current kernel (2.6.26-rc8), the bug is known an fixed in 0.1.5 so the package should be updated.
By the moment I'am able to boot with splashy at 1280x800 and X works fine, but changing to a tty after that looses the resolution.

Try xf86-video-intel instead of xf86-video-i810. It worked for me, no need to use 915resolution at all afterwards.

I use xf86-video-intel, the 915resolution was to get 1280x800 in console framebuffer

I have a GMA 950 in my laptop and the xf86-video-intel driver works great with it and I didn't need 915resolution to set uvesafb....
But I have a problem with uvesafb. There is a 1 in 10 chance that it won't load. Completely random for all I can guess....
It just bugs out with vbe_init() -22
I think I've posted in these forums about the issue and got no response....so, I'm asking again
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...
