/proc/profile speeds up booting process?

I was reading this article about how to speed up Ubuntu and in the first tip he gives, he says that adding "profile" to the end of the grub kernel line will optimize the boot.

So the question is: does it really work?

Did you try it?

Re: /proc/profile speeds up booting process?

Yes, and I've found no difference. But I was wondering if there is a more techinical explanation.

I did a quick search and I didn't find anything relating "profile" and boot process, though I found only pages about "profile=<number>" and not only "profile"

Re: /proc/profile speeds up booting process?

I've found this topic in the Ubuntu forums. It works only with Ubuntu.
