Open Office Woes

I wasn't really sure where to post this but I am running fluxbox and just installed Open Office and when trying to run one of the programs e.g. scalc. I get the following error:

"no suitable windowing system found, exiting"

This error occurs when trying to execute all the openoffice programs.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Re: Open Office Woes

Maybe edit the menu entries to start the appropriate gnome service first.

[exec] (openoffice-calc) {~/bin/scalc}

with a script in the vein of

~/bin/scalc:

gconfd &
/opt/openoffice/wherever_it_is/scalc && pkill gconfd

I don't know if gconfd is what you need for sure, you may need to start full gnome services, but something in that vein might work for you.
