[SOLVED]Pmount can't mount - says "could not lock the mount directory"

As of several hours ago, I haven't been able to mount anything via Pmount.  I always get the same error (see below).  Earlier today I had no trouble mounting USB drives.  I've tried all that I can think of.  I've tried removing Pmount and reinstalling it as well as rebooting.  I also tried regular Mount, which works perfectly.

I'm using an ASUS Eee PC 701 4G, but I can't see how that is directly related to the issue, which is why I'm posting this outside the Eee PC thread.

Here is the output of Pmount with the --debug option.

I had a quick search here and couldn't find anything helpful, and I couldn't find any help through Google.  Does anbody have any idea how to fix this?

Did you install any software since the last time pmount worked?  Upgraded any?

Thanks, I didn't even think about any changes in my installed packages.  Earlier yesterday I went through and removed about ten packages after making sure nothing depended on them first.  I just reinstalled those packages and Pmount is working normally again.  I guess I must have removed something Pmount indirectly depended on.
