All design goals must be phrased in such a way that it is hard to use them as slogans to justify stupidity.

Welcome to the forums.

Are you on 64 bit by any chance? If so, you'll have to take some extra steps to get WINE running.

Re: wine 1.0

Well you'll definately be looking forward to Wine 1.1 then wink

A mistake usually made by users is searching for the wine package when using Archlinux x86_64. Wine doesn't support 64bit and therefore archlinux doesn't provide this package in the [extra] repository. You can find it in AUR though if you are using 64bit linux: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7915

Re: wine 1.0

WINE can be run under 64 bit without a chroot environment. There is more than one solution to do this. I choose to use the "official" lib32 libraries with whatever extra add ons necessary.

Re: wine 1.0

I don't know if this is the right spot to ask, but:
Would it be possible to include the animated cursor patch to the wine 1.1 version?

It can be found here: http://oliverdeisenroth.de/downloads/wi … .1.0.patch

This patch seems to be needed to run games like CNC3 and everything that has animated cursors since wine lacks in supporting it. I'm using bin32-wine on Arch64 so it would be nice if the wine package used for bin32.wine would have this patch included!

Thanks!

Re: wine 1.0

Is this patch being included upstream?  You are much better off requesting it gets included there rather as Arch tries to keep the package as vanilla as possible.

Re: wine 1.0

Does anyone know when version 1.2.0 will be released? Or is it still possible to include the patch to wine 1.1 for now till the new version is out?
Thanks!

Re: wine 1.0

The 1.1 branch is the developmental branch so the patch should make it there sooner or later.

Re: wine 1.0

if they keep with the same release schedule as usual ie a release every 2 weeks.
and where on 1.1.1 atm so 1.2.0 should hit somewhere around 31 october plus minus 2 weeks
to account for me not being good at counting

Re: wine 1.0

Wine's changelog stated that v1.1.1 was able to run Photoshop CS3 installer. But I didn't see much change. It still doesn't work at all.

Did someone succeeded ?
