I thought that there was a thread floating around about this, but I couldn't seem to find it...
I need to learn Access in a hurry, so I installed MS Office 2003 on my 64 bit workstation. Everything seems to working alright, but the fonts look like crap. Does anyone have any advice?
--EDIT--

I've never used M$ Office in wine but I'd try installing the ttf-ms-fonts package. If that doesn't do the job, install corefonts using winetricks.

Thanks N30N.
I have the ttf-ms-fonts installed and Office can find them fine. Winetricks isn't helping because the fonts it want are already here. I can live with crappy fonts seeing that this is only to learn. The fact that I even need Office is bothersome....

Oh, your after some font anti-aliasing? If so you could pick non M$ fonts in winecfg>Desktop Integration and probably need to change some in M$ Office preferences aswell.

I can imagine.

Well unless someone here has some tricks, Access 2003 doesn't function under WINE in the first place. Either it just crashes when trying to create any new project, or with imm32.dll and MSCTF.dll installed, it just kind of sits there for a while then blows up. Either way, it doesn't work.

I was going to suggest that maybe CrossOver would be worth the investment, but it appears even it only supports Access v9.0/2000.

Thanks N30N,
It's proof of concept anyway. They use Access, I'll show them Ruby on Rails. I may not get the job, but hell, I'll get a feel for Ruby on Rails. Seems pretty cool to me!

If you've been supplied a copy of the Access database you can use Kexi to convert it to a better preforming and more open friendly format (like MySQL).

Yeah?… I'm more of a Django guy myself.

Forgive me but I am about to hijack you.
Is there a way to have AA on winecfg itself?
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.
