... I want them all!
To expand on that: I can load radeonfb to get a nice 1280x800 framebuffer. I can load fglrx to get X at the same resolution. I can run both of these together, and switch from one to the other as required.
I can suspend to/resume from disk, using uswsusp and pm-utils, with radeonfb on its own, OR with fglrx on its own. When running radeonfb and fglrx concurrently, I can suspend to disk successfully, but when I resume, I get a blank X screen with an immobile cursor. I can't Ctrl-Alt-Fx or Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, or do anything at all, except a hard reboot.
There are various quirks available according to the pm-hibernate man page, but they seem to be apply to suspend-to-ram only.
I used to use suspend2 back in the days of the beyond kernel, and with simpler hardware, but apart from that this is all new to me. Any ideas/suggestions/etc would be greatly appreciated.

Never mind, there's another thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=51118 - I'll go there instead.
If anyone says I should have searched first, I'll.... agree with them.
