Can't eject dvd drive properly

For quite some time this would pop up whenever I hit the physical button on my dvd drive to eject it, when a disk was inside and it had been mounted:

Now others have run into this, it seems to be a bug, but that's not the problem. (I use HAL and thunar-volman, and thunar exclusively, no nautilus or gnome settings.) Now when I try to eject my dvd drive, I can't use my "eject /dev/sr1" shortcut as I did (I reinstalled Arch recently) before. Now I seem to have to be root (?!), here's what I tried:

/media # eject /dev/sr1
umount: /media/SIMPSONS S5wCOMM is not in the fstab (and you are not root)
eject: unmount of `/media/SIMPSONS S5wCOMM' failed
/media #

I have always had it working with HAL and no drives in the fstab, but now it's doing this. I can only eject it if I issue the above eject command with sudo. Any help appreciated, TIA smile smile

Re: Can't eject dvd drive properly

You seem to have the same problem as this thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=41508
try rebuilding exo with the patch/PKGBUILD given in that thread.
