Hello all!
This morning at about 10AM (GMT+3) I sync'd with "pacman -Syu" as I usualy do, however something rather bad (read - broken) has happened. Being fairly new to Arch I'm not quite sure what to make of it all so I shall do my best to explain:
After I had upgraded I decided it'd be rather jolly to watch something, so i loaded mplayer, only to be greeted instead with:
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libkrb5.so.22: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryNo problem I thought, perhaps something got broken in the update? So i try to uninstall (R ) and reinstall (S ) mplayer.
Thats when things went from bad to worse as I attempted to install mplayer again:
bash-3.2# pacman -S mplayer
error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/sync/extra//foomatic-filters-3.0_20080420-1/depends: No such file or directory
Warning: mplayer-svn provides mplayer

error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/sync/extra//foomatic-filters-3.0_20080420-1/depends: No such file or directory
error: cannot resolve "ttf-bitstream-vera", a dependency of "mplayer-svn"
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

bash-3.2#Something to do with foomatic I thought... ....So I attempt that:
bash-3.2# pacman -S foomatic-filters

Proceed with installation? [Y/n] n
bash-3.2#I've tried my rudimentary skills of resyncing the mirror, clearing out the old cache etc but I'm afraid im rather lost with this one.
I think that now, who knows what else could be wrong! Could anyone please shed some light on what might be wrong? Many thanks!
Regards,
Mike.

Just try pacman -Syy to re-generate (which only means downloading + extracting) the sync databases in /var/lib/pacman/sync/
pacman roulette : pacman -S $(pacman -Slq | LANG=C sort -R | head -n $((RANDOM % 10)))
