hey, i searched around and couldn't find the answer for this. I've installed some packages(including X) and have also added a user. Now, whenever I try to run installed commands as root(xf86config, for example) and it says command not found, but when I run them as my user, it works fine. Some commands, however, refuse to run unless you have root access. AHHHHHHH CATCH-22!!! There has to be a way to refresh the commands. :? Thanks in advance

likely you just needed to update your path for the user

I have been wondering if there was a way to update your path on the fly with out logging out and back in? Anyone?

You can use the command source or . and then the file containing the path. In AL case it would be either
source /etc/profile
or
. /etc/profile
