gnome places menu [SOLVED]

Strange behaviour on my gnome desktop. Folders in the places menu are opened by audacious instead of nautilus.
I tested deleting all gnome configuration folders and reinstalling nautilus without luck.
Removing audacious does not default to nautilus either:

  Could not open location 'file:///home/******'
  There was an error launching the default action command associated with this location.

This only happens in the places menu. Elsewhere nautilus opens folders.

OK, I don't know if this is the actual problem, but have you tried issuing the following command:

# update-desktop-database

That's what you should do. I also had a problem of GNOME places menu opening folders with thunar.

Re: gnome places menu [SOLVED]

Thanks kensai. I did

update-mime-database /usr/share/mime

after commenting out

<alias type="x-directory/normal"/>

in /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml

Now gnome-open works again.
gvfs-open did not need this change.
