Hi all,
I started using FVWM a couple of days ago (I spent all yesterday getting my window decor together) after using gnome for the past several years, but I still have a question for you gurus out there. What do you use to automount your DVDs, flashdrives, external hdds, etc? Or do you? I don't want to go back to mounting all my volumes manually, but I guess I can - I've gotten spoiled by Gnome's automagic for things like this.
Anyway, thanks in advance.

I use thunar-volman (with thunar obviously).
I think ivman is pretty popular. I tried using it, but didnt have the time to search for correct configs/etc

IIRC, thunar goes with xfce? Is it pretty lightweight? I've been so impressed with how slim I've been able to keep this system compared the Fedora 9 or Hardy.
I guess I'll check otherwise on ivman.
Any more suggestions?
edit:
Is there anything special I need to do to get thunar setup right?

Thunar works great, this is what I use. This thread is also interesting: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=46944.

+1 for pcmanfm! It's excellent! What does it need to automount? If it doesn't need hal or dbus or whatever, I'd like a reason to get rid of more boot-up clutter.

I'd use Thunar or udev. ivman seems to be slow, buggy crap, and is currently unmaintained.

I would also suggest you go with thunar. It's really light. You could also try pcmanfm. See which you like more.
The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner.

But if they tell you that I've lost my mind, maybe it's not gone just a little hard to find...

Try autofs, when you cd to a mount point device gets mounted. You can have shortcuts with FvwmButtons, desktop icons, use any file manager, or whatever. This could get you started http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AutoFS_HowTo
You need to install an RTFM interface.

The udev method in the wiki works great: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ude … SB_devices
