VMWare Tools

This guide ( http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … _Procedure ) talks about Open VMWare Tools as an alternative to VMWare Tools. Do VMWare Tools have more functionalities than Open VMWare Tools, or both do the same?

Re: VMWare Tools

Hello,

I am trying to install arch in vmware server and am running into the same problem when using the extra/xf86-vmware-mouse driver. The cursor just disappears and clicking will cause it to click on the right bottom corner.

What is the resolution for this problem?  Should I get the official vmware tools? Is there another driver that might work better? I am a newbie with arch and vmware and am a bit stuck atm on what to do next.

Thanks!

Edit :
Ok .. If I use "mouse" driver with device /dev/psaux in the xorg.conf file, then it works fine. The mouse movement is a bit shaky but from reading other forums, this is expected behaviour unless vmware-tools is installed.
