[SOLVED] How to equalize mp3s

I have an album of mp3s with way too much bass.

cmus doesn't have an equalizer, so I need a separate one that writes back to the mp3. Does such a thing exist?

I'm pretty sure that audacity can reduce bass somehow.

Well, audacity does have an equalizer, but I don't think there is a way to automate it. You'll have to open each file individually and equalize it. Depending on how many songs you have, you'll spend some good time on it.

just the other day some posted a script that equalized individual songs and entire albums using ffmpeg I think.

You might wanna search the site very closely, it was less then 2 weeks ago.

That's great! I'll want to make sure it's just perfect anyway. Thanks.

Ok, I'll look into that too. I didn't know ffmpeg can do that, once I find the option it shouldn't be too hard to find in the forums.

That's funny, but I just tried it out and it can't lower just bass.

And I just played around a bit with audacity and trying out something extreme already had good results, so it's just fine tuning now.

Have you tried gnormalize?
If you're not a gtk fan, the command line version should suffice.

It always gets the job done for me.
