... Wow. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so retarded in the business world before.

Wow, why would a company purposefully alienate part of its user base?

I alway found that company really suspicious because of their name: Foxconn

This has efficiently placed Foxconn among the brands of products that I will never consider buying, and after I've spread this link around a bit I am sure that the same will be the case for quite a few people around me.
I haven't lost my mind; I have a tape back-up somewhere.

I never had a good opinion on Foxconn ever since they entered the end user market, this only confirms my opinion on them. No Linux support, no money. Too bad for them.

Even more so when it's actually a question of not following an industry standard. Maybe it's a result of some other famous operating-system which has a habit of ignore standards, and in this case ACPI.

Re-check the original thread - apparently the UK Foxconn rep is on to the case.
Hmmmmm.

Yeah, but I just find it a bit odd that the supposed uk rep of foxconn says "please ignore my spelling as I'm dyslexic", it just shouts of it being someone having a laugh.

I was ready to give foxconn the benefit of the doubt (provided they fixed it) but after reading that bill gates email where he specifically talks about making "windows only" extensions for ACPI because "they do all the work" and then "linux works great without having to do the work," I can't believe m$ wasn't behind this. Especially since apparently those foxconn mobos are OEM for a lot of big PC sellers that already are in lock step with microslop. how scummy, god i hate m$ more than i can even say.

People here consume Foxconns in their masses as this is a cheap board and works well in pirated Windows XP
Most have the computer in full on all the time so they dont mind ACPI either
Foxconn does not have really much to lose except the guy's emails. Everyone who does mind of whats inside the computer uses some other board. All the others use Windows anyway.
