Regnum Online Guild

I was going to get into Regnum Online, and was wondering if anyone else here plays once in a while. If so, we can run together, maybe start an Arch clan or something If anything, I was just wondering what realms people were playing on.

Server: Ra (International / ES) (for now... maybe start the guild on Horus because of EN)
Realm: Alsius

To help get this guild going, I'm posting people who are now playing below.

It's an MMORPG that's free and has a linux client. You can find all the info at http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/ . I don't play a lot of MMORPGs, but I know it's more fun if you have someone to play with

I play RegnumOnline and love it. The comunity is great and each realm has plenty of english speaking players. If you play, I myself am in Alsius and a hunter named Compoundious....

It's quite fun

P.S. could someone with more (any) PKGBUILD knowldge than me make a pkgbuild for this? I'm trying to install everything on my system as a package for tracking/removing reasons

Looks interesting so I installed it, but seems that my graphic card (Intel Mobile GM965/GL960) isn't supported. No trick of their forums could keep the game running for more than a few seconds.

I'll have a look every now and then, though, to see if support for this card improves.

I've been on there for a year or so. Although my oldest character is on the international server, I'm more active on one of the German servers now. I'm on Alsius now, Utghar Conjurer and this is my most favorite class of all I've tried. (I'm Ignis warlock on the international and have a Syrtis hunter on the other German server.)

Simply put, that's not possible. The game receives frequent updates and you would have to run the game as root to implement them then. For security reasons: no! Additionally, who would provide bandwith for a package of several hundreds of MB? I had been thinking of packaging it before myself. I think the trouble is not worth the benefit. Simply create a folder in your home directory and that's it.

Did you try using driconf and change S3TC compression there? I once got the game to run on a friend's laptop with it (think it was 945 though). Also the latest intel drivers (xf86-video-intel) are reported to work, see this thread for reference.

Cool, this thread is really picking up. Maybe an Arch guild is possible after all Add me as a friend and we can meet up: "Bladesonfire". Right now, I'm traveling between Birka City and Montsognir City, although will be heading to Gokstad's Surroundings soon to finish a quest.

Also, for the Intel graphics card problem, I was able to get a laptop with an Intel 945GM chip running thanks to Inkaine's driconf tip. Just install it through pacman, run it as root, and go to the second tab to change the S3TC setting. I also forced safe mode (after you log in, option at the top and click the last check box). After that, it seemed to work fine.

Thanks for the tips about the GM965. I did the S3TC trick, in fact the game gets updates and I can see the intro. But as soon as I try to chose a faction it dies with the following error:

game: intel_regions.c:231: intel_region_data: Assertion `dst_offset + dstx + width + (dsty + height - 1) * dst->pitch * dst->cpp <= dst->pitch * dst->cpp * dst->height' failed.

Got SIGABRT (aborted)

I'll have a look in some days, go vacation twomorrow (computer detoxification for a week).

I'm dling the client right now, it looks like a fun game! I've been looking for a nice Linux mmo, hopefully this is it..I'm totally for an Arch Guild I just need to learn to how to play the game first

Maybe any of you can help _me_ with a problem also? I sadly don't get any sound. Whatever I enter into /etc/openalrc won't work. It did work with arts previously (at least from time to time and then utilizing my spdif out). Now after KDE4.1 upgrade alsa is free'd of arts and I can use aoss for teamspeak finally - but it still doesn't work with openal. How do your openalrc's look like?

If you need any help, let me know. I'm pretty new at MMORPGs, but I got addicted to RO, so I was surfing the web and forums like a mad man. Got an Opera window with 6-7 tabs I can look at while playing so I don't get too lost. Haha.

Any tips/tricks? Hmm, well for levelling, I upgrade ally healing and summon as a priority. Other than that not really. And reset_powers isn't (better not) be going anywhere anytime soon.

Oh, I should mention that I've moved on to bigger* and better** things on the Horus server. Still an Alsius Nordo Conj named jb because I'm exciting like that.

*where bigger means comically desolate.
**where better means I'm slightly less annoying when I'm typing in english into global.

Well, I'm in. Just downloaded it a while ago and have an Uthgar Mage going on Alsius. Regnum seems a bit... slow, but if we can get a guild going it might be worth sticking with.

Not yet. I'm on Ra/Alsius. I added some other players, but I haven't seen them yet. When I go online, it's usually at night (I'm PST). Perhaps I'll start editing the first post and putting everyone's name so there's a little bit more camaraderie.
