Hi all,
I installed awesome wm the other day and for some reason all GTK-apps have huge fonts. GDM and the gnome splash screen have the same issue. I'm thinking this is a DPI issue but I wouldn't know where to start looking. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

You should configure your DPI at Xorg.conf, or specify Xft.dpi directive in ~/.Xdefaults. Also specify the font used for Gtk apps in gtkrc files (you can use "gtk-chtheme" for it).

Thanks for the quick response.
I've specified the display size in xorg.conf (340x270 for a 15 inch screen). Using ~/.Xdefault doesn't seem to do anything either. GDM and the gnome splash screen also have this problem but applications in gnome do not. What am I missing?

Try to play with the /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc to set up needed dpi
exec /usr/bin/X -dpi 100 -nolisten tcpAnd, seems something wrong with your xorg.conf, why you set up "340x270 for a 15 inch screen" ? Don't you think the display resolution should be bigger? ![]()
Use hwd to generate xorg.xonf
sudo hwd -xLast edited by sevenfourk (2008-07-29 20:16:46)
No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it.
